Mixed media on canvas
141cm x 168cm [Redux]

After some recent counselling, it was suggested that I was suffering from depression. I was feeling down and distant, but I hadn’t latched that title to it. The very word ‘depressed’ awakened me. I hesitantly agreed. I was depressed and through the counselling, the counsellor and my wife helped me understand why.

For me, to understand why those feelings arise, gave me an awareness and a path to recovery from it.

And I am.

“Who do you think you are?” is not a statement said in malice, but rather a question to me.

My childhood shaped me; it made that person I am today. But also burdened me with some trauma that unconsciously dictates my emotions and reactions to things as an adult.

I’m working through it and have incredible support to achieve my potential as a husband, Father and friend.

This painting is me on a journey of repair and reconciliation.
