Vestige
2025
Mixed media on canvas
91cm x 91cm [box framed]
You can spot these little metal cut-outs scattered along the bottom of the painting, tiny relics with a story of their own. I’m not entirely sure what they were originally meant for, but they perfectly capture the title. The title also nods to my process, begining as one idea, morphed into another, and then landed right here.
Those bold, solid colours. They’re like a red flag to my usual itch to overwork every detail. This time, my brain let it go. The simplicity feels fresh and freeing.
This piece is a letter to the happy accidents that make creating so much fun.
