2022
Mixed media on canvas
120cm x 200cm [Redux]

I was initially inspired by David Hockney’s “Splash”. I wanted to create a tribute to the paintings composition and colours, but I just couldn’t produce enough harmony to be satisfied. It completely stumped me.

So I keep going over and over it with more sections, washes and lines until I abandoned the concept entirely and instead resolved it in my head simply by calling this piece “Quilt”.

I mean, we’ve all been around our Grandparents house, where there’s bound to have been a homemade blanket or something, stitched up with mismatched patterns and textures that was a delight and comfort to see.
