This canvas was stuck to my studio table, where it was belted with all sorts of spilt liquids over the years. I’m waiting for a canvas to be stretched, so I wanted to work on something in the meantime, and this was it.
I loved looking at the layered history of drippy accidents and knock-overs. I love the explosion of colour in the bottom corner. Reminded me of a lotus flower. Needed to tone it back with some lovely green oil washes and some varnish and charcoal for good measure.
Unique shape for the tricky spots in your house.
